Live Your Passion - Failure is Temporary, Regret is Forever

Today we explore passion, failure, and regret - and the impact each has on you're action toward fulfillment.

Every day should be considered a gift, as the life you plan is not guaranteed.

By finding your passion, overcoming your fear of failure, and removing your regret, you can live with purpose and peace.

Unfortunately, most people never search for their passion, they let failure stop them from further action, and they pile regret on top of their motivation.

People give up on their passions, believe they tried and failed at their one shot, and end up with regret forever.

  • People believe others are just luckier than them.

  • People believe breaking the status quo is taboo and against a social code.

  • People believe if someone tells them they’ll fail, then they might as well not try.

  • People believe they don’t have the time or the finances to change their circumstances.

  • People believe that they should be doing what everyone else is doing - a traditional 9-5 job for 40 years.

But these are just excuses, and excuses you can overcome!

Here's how:

Search for your passion and experiment until you find it.

You don’t have to settle in life - for anything - especially your job.

But we all need to work (I didn’t win the $1B Mega Millions either!), so we can’t stop working and spend endless time trying to find activities that we enjoy.

Instead try this:

  • Make a list of old hobbies you used to have, back before work and life got so complicated.

  • Take the list and try one hobby a month.

  • If you enjoy it, keep it going. If you don’t, then try the next on the list.

Can’t remember the last time you had a hobby (or any fun)? Here is a quirky list of hobby ideas to get you started.

This is outside of your day-job-time, but it’s important.

It’s critical to your personal fulfillment to find something that energizes you throughout the day - for example, as soon as I’m done with work, I jump on my computer and start writing (or travel planning). That motivates me throughout the day!

Find what motivates you and you won’t stress about work (and who knows, you may be able to quit working).

Failure is part of growing - don’t let it stop you, let it empower you.

Don’t give up if you don’t immediately find your passion.

It may not be something you’ve ever considered, but when you find it, then life will be so much sweeter.

The 9-5 sleepwalkers are made up of folks who quit looking for their passion - and they’re the majority of the workforce!

They’re miserable - or at least drifting through life waiting for something to push them in another direction. Feeling like they don’t control their destiny.

But you and I know better than to give up. Because we have control of our choices and we don’t want to stick with the status quo.

Use failure as motivation.

A hobby (or business, or location, or relationship) didn’t work out. You can now check one item (that you know doesn’t work) off your list.

Try again!

Regret will last a lifetime, so regret as little as possible.

You’re only done if you stop…and then comes the regret.

Twenty years from now you’ll look back and say “I tried to surf, but failed.” So you gave up on trying anything new and drifted through life, imagining what could have been, what you could have accomplished.

Regret stays with you forever.

But there is a way out of a lifetime of regret!

By finding your passion.

You’ll forget about all those prior regrets when you’re living a life of fulfillment.

If you’re currently in a mode of regret for not starting a hobby earlier, not changing jobs, or for not moving to another country, then it’s time to start back at the beginning of this newsletter and search for your passion.

To avoid regret, you have to act now!

You are accountable (and in control) of your life, so do something with it.

Don’t let failure stop you.

Don’t live a life of regret.

Choose action and passion.
