Tip #8 - Take Advantage of Your Credit Card Awards

Good morning!

Grab your pour-over coffee and enjoy.

This is tip #8 of nine tips I’m sharing over the next nine weeks. Watch for the last tip next week!

This tip is rather new to me, but it’s already saved us hundreds of dollars - which (of course) go toward our Financial Dreams.

We’ve used our credit cards for most of our purchases for several years now. Because we pay off the entire balance every month.

This allows us to take advantage of the bonus miles offered, which we love using for our adventures. Or exchange them for the cash-out amount, to offset large purchases.

But recently we found other perks on our cards, and not just the insurance coverage and fraud charges.

Discounts!

Our card offers discount coupons from various vendors. They change regularly and have date limits, but if it’s something we’re already spending money on, then it’s a great reward with just a few minutes of time.

(In case you’re wondering, we use this on our Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card.)

TIP #8 - Take Advantage of Your Credit Card Awards

Warning! Only use this tip if you’re already in a good financial space where you pay off your credit cards at the end of every month.

It’s not worth the rewards to pay only the minimum balance and get interest charges.

And it’s not worth going out of your way to spend money just for the discounts

However, if you already have strong financial habits, then this method could be worth hundreds of dollars a month.

Take advantage of the cash back cards, the mileage cards, and the various discounts and coverage offered.

In the next 30 minutes…

Figure out if you’re current credit card offers cash-back, miles, or discounts.

Jump online and search around your credit card portal.

If it doesn’t, consider looking for another card.

(We’ve loved our Chase Sapphire Preferred, but there is an annual fee.)

Remember, intentional money equals intentional life.
